Nonresident Fellow

Dr. Diane Maye Zorri is an assistant professor of security studies at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, serves as a nonresident senior fellow for Joint Special Operations University, and is an affiliate faculty member at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Arctic Security and Resilience. Prior to Embry-Riddle, Diane was a visiting assistant professor at John Cabot University in Rome, Italy. She writes and does research on issues that involve security and governance in the Middle East, US defense policy, and national security. Dr Zorri started her career as an officer in the US Air Force and later worked in the defense industry. During the Iraq War, she worked for Multi-National Force – Iraq in Baghdad, managing over four hundred bilingual, bicultural advisors to the US Department of State and the US Department of Defense.  

Dr. Zorri has published several works and has been featured in scholarly and news mediums including CNN, the Digest of Middle East Studies, Special Operations Journal, the Journal of Strategic Security, the Journal of Terrorism Research, and Strategy Bridge. She is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy, the Naval Postgraduate School, and George Mason University, and completed A1-B2 coursework in Italian at the Università per Stranieri in Perugia, Italy.
