In partnership with the West Point Press and through the generous support of the West Point Class of 1982 and Mr. Tom Hand, the Modern War Institute is pleased to announce the upcoming publication of the first edition of the Modern War Journal (MWJ).

The purpose of the MWJ is to help win tomorrow’s wars today by providing insightful, timely, and relevant academic content for both West Point and the operational force. The first edition of the MWJ features a collection of articles, opinion pieces, speeches, interviews, and book reviews all related to the first edition’s theme of “leadership and the emerging battlefield.” It also includes speeches from, and interviews with, some of the most recognizable names in US national security. Contributors to the MWJ include academics, political leaders, active duty and retired military officers and noncommissioned officers, and West Point cadets.

The online version will publish on June 1, 2025, followed by the print version at the start of West Point’s fall semester.
