SUMMARY:Military Innovation in War: It Takes a Learning Organization — Dr. Richard H. Shultz\, Jr.
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Richard H. Shultz\, Jr. is a professor of international politics at the Fletcher School\, Tufts University and the Director of the Fletcher School’s International Security Studies Program. At Fletcher\, he teaches graduate-level courses in various aspects of international security affairs\, internal/transnational conflict\, war studies\, and intelligence and armed groups. Professor Shultz will discuss how Task Force 714 transformed in the midst of the war in Iraq to dismantle al-Qaeda’s clandestine network despite what organizational experts identify as barriers that inhibit militaries from learning\, innovating\, and changing in wartime.  This is critical for military thinking and learning\, given that many military organizations are constantly in or preparing for war.
