On January 26, 2023, MWI senior fellow Dr. Marybeth Ulrich visited West Point and presented on the Academy Oath Project. Her talk, cosponsored by the Modern War Institute and the William E. Simon Center for the Professional Military Ethic, focused on the cadet-faculty effort to reinvigorate education on the oath of office in the academies’ academic and military programs. The project started at the United States Air Force Academy with the goal of cultivating a program to institutionalize, educate, and train all cadets on the Oath of Commissioning and civil-military relations norms to foster a deeper understanding of military service in a democracy.
